Proverb of the Day- LIFE

Proverbs 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Saturday, June 28, 2008

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose,
Your will through all things.
- St. Ignatius of Loyola

JUNE 27 is the Feast of Mother of Perpetual Help in Baclaran. Those who want to pray the novena,I published this prayer for you.

Opening Hymn: (Stand)
Immaculate Mother
Immaculate Mother,
To you do we plead
To ask God, our Father
For help in our need.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria

We pray for our country,
The land of our birth;
We pray for all nations
That peace be on earth.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria

Opening Prayers: (Remain standing)
Priest: In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Sprit.
All: Amen.
Priest: Brothers and sisters, as children of our Blessed Mother, we are gathered before her miraculous picture to honour her and to pray for all our needs. Unworthy children that we are, let us first of all ask God’s mercy and pardon.
All: Merciful Father * you sent your Divine Son * to redeem us by his death and resurrection * and to give us new life. By this you make us your children * to love one another in Christ. How many times in the past * we have forgotten this sublime dignity. We have sinned against our brothers and sisters; * we have offended you. Merciful Father, forgive us. Repenting sincerely of our sins we ask your mercy; * may we always live as your truly devoted children.

Reading of Petitions and Thanksgivings
Sermonette (In keeping with the liturgical season)

Mary Immaculate Star of the Morning

Mary Immaculate, star of the morning,
Chosen before the creation began,
Destined to bring, through the light of your dawning,
Conquest of Satan and rescue to man.
We sinners honour your sinless perfection;
Fallen and weak, for God’s mercy we plead.
Grant us the shield of your mighty protection
Measure your aid by the depth of our need.

Bend from your throne at the voice of our crying.
Look to this earth where your footsteps have trod
Stretch out your arms to us, living and dying,
Mary Immaculate, Mother of God.

Novena Prayer
Dear Mother of Perpetual Help * from the cross Jesus gave you to us for our Mother. You are the kindest the most loving * of all mothers. Look tenderly on us your children * as we now ask you to help us in all our needs * especially this one … (Pause to recall your petition). While you were on earth, dear Mother * you willingly shared in the sufferings of your Son. Strengthened by your faith and confidence * in the fatherly love of God * you accepted the mysterious designs of His will.
We too, have our crosses and trials. Sometimes they almost crush us to the ground. Dearest Mother * share with us your abundant faith and confidence in God. Make us aware that God never ceases to love us; * that He answers all our prayers * in the way that is best for us. Strengthen our hearts to carry the cross * in the footsteps of your Divine Son. Help us to realize * that he who shares the cross of Christ * will certainly share His resurrection.
Dearest Mother, as we worry about our own problems * let us not forget the needs of others. You always loved others so much; * help us to do the same. While praying for our intentions * and for the intentions of all here present at this Novena * we earnestly ask you, our Mother * to help us comfort the sick and the dying * give hope to the poor and the unemployed * heal the broken-hearted * lighten the burden of the oppressed * teach justice to their oppressors and bring back to God all those who have offended Him.

Dearest Mother, help us to avoid sin which separates us from our heavenly Father * and from one another. Full of trust in you * we place ourselves under the mantle of your maternal protection * and confidently hope for your powerful help. Amen.

Prayer for the Home
Mother of Perpetual Help * we choose you as Queen of our homes. We ask you to bless all our families * with your tender motherly love. May the Sacrament of Marriage * bind husbands and wives so closely together * that they will always be faithful to each other * and love one another as Christ loves his Church.
We ask you to bless all parents. May they love and cherish the children * whom God has entrusted to them. May they always give them the example * of a truly Christian life. Help them to bring up their children * in the love and fear of God. Bless all children * that they may love, honor and obey * their fathers and mothers. To your loving care * we especially entrust the youth of today.
Give us all a sense of responsibility * that we may do our part * in making our home a haven of peace * like your own home at Nazareth. We take you as our model. Help us to grow daily in genuine love of God and neighbor * so that justice and peace may happily reign * in the entire family of mankind. Amen.

Mother of Christ

Mother of Christ, Mother of Christ
What shall I ask of thee?
I do not sigh for the wealth of earth
For the joys that fade and flee
But, Mother of Christ, Mother of Christ
This do I long to see
The bliss untold which your arms enfold
The treasure upon your knee.

Mother of Christ, Mother of Christ
I toss on a stormy sea,
Oh, lift your Child as a beacon light
To the port where I fain would be
And, Mother of Christ, Mother of Christ
This do I ask of thee,
When the voyage is o’er,
O stand on the shore
And show Him at last to me.

Benediction or Holy Mass
(Suggested format for Benediction)
(The Blessed Sacrament is Exposed)

O Saving Victim
O saving victim op’ning wide
The gate of heaven to men below!
Our foes press on from ev’ry side
Your aid supply, your strength bestow.
To your great name be endless praise,
Immortal God-head, one in three;
Oh, grant us endless length of days
In our true native land with thee.

Silent Prayer (Pause)

Thanksgiving Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ * truly present in the Most Blessed Eucharist * we adore you. It has pleased the Father * that in you all his fullness should dwell * and that through you * he should reconcile all things to himself. Grant us the grace to be truly grateful * for all that our Father has done for us. Grant that we may be truly sorry for our sins * and do penance for them.
Through you, we thank the Eternal Father for the gift of life. He has created all the wonderful things of this world for us. May we learn to use them well * so that through them * we may grow in love for Him.
Above all, we thank our Father * for sending you to us * as the greatest expression of his love * to save us and all creation * by your death and resurrection.
We thank you Lord * for giving us your own Mother to be our Mother of Perpetual Help. May the countless favours we have received through her intercession, * and especially through the Novena * inspire us to greater confidence in God’s loving mercy * and her perpetual help. Grant that we may always do the holy Will of God * and persevere in his love.
To the Most Holy Trinity * Father, Son and Holy Spirit * be honour, glory and thanksgiving forever and ever. Amen.

Silent Prayer (Pause)

Prayer for the Sick

Lord Jesus Christ * you bore our sufferings and carried our sorrows * in order to show us clearly * the value of human weakness and patience; * graciously hear our prayers for the sick. Grant that those who are weighed down * with pain and other afflictions of illness * may realize that they are among the chosen ones * whom you call blessed. Help them to understand * that they are united with you in your sufferings * for the salvation of the world. Amen.

Let us Raise our Voice
Let us raise our voice
To proclaim our faith Christ the Lord for us has died.
Dying, He destroyed our death.
Rising, He restored our life.
O Lord Jesus, we await Your last return in glory.
When we eat the bread
And we drink the cup
In the Blessed Eucharist,
We meet You, our Risen Saviour,
Giving life to us anew.
Through life’s journey, be with us
To strengthen us forever. Amen.

V. You have given them bread from Heaven. (Alleluia)
R. The source of all happiness. (Alleluia)

Lord God, by the paschal mystery of the death and resurrection of Your only Son, You accomplished the work of man’s redemption. Full of trust, we proclaim that paschal mystery in the sacramental signs of the Eucharist. Help us to see ever growing in us the fruits of your saving work through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

(Sung) (Stand)
Hail Mary, full of graceT
he Lord is with you
Blessed are you among women,
And blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners. Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Prayer for Private Devotions
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help and sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I hasten to you. O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you, I come; before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise my petition, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Prayer for Financial Aid
Realizing, dear Mother, that you are our perpetual help, not only in spiritual but also in temporal necessities, we ask you to help us in our present financial worry. Because of unavoidable circumstances which have arisen in our lives, we are in great want and financial embarrassment, since we are unable to meet our honest debts. We are not asking, dearest Mother of Perpetual Help, for wealth, if the possession of it is not in accordance with the will of God; we merely ask you for that assistance which will help us to settle our present obligations. We believe, dear Mother of God, that you are extremely kind and generous to all your loving and devoted children. We plead with you, therefore, dear Mother, to obtain for us the help we so urgently need. We are trying so earnestly to solve our problem but we believe in your powerful intercession with Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son and our Redeemer. Amen.

Mary, my Mother, your love for us could not be greater or more powerful. You are rich in love and your power brings us relief. You want everyone to be saved. I beg you therefore, protect me in temptation and strengthen me when I weaken. I struggle daily to be faithful to Jesus your son. Help me my Mother at every moment. But above all take me by the hand when you see that I am weakening and about to fall. I will have to battle with temptation till the day I die. My Lady, you are my hope, my refuge, my strength; never let me lose the grace of God. In every temptation I resolve to turn to you at once and pray: Mary help me. (St. Alphonsus)

Prayer for Company-Keeper
Eternal Father, through the powerful intercession of our Mother of Perpetual Help, I come to beg Your guidance and strength, during the important time of courtship.
Help us to realize, that genuine love, deep and lasting, is Your own gift to those who respect and reverence one another. Take from our hearts all trace of selfishness, so that in all things we may help each other to grow in true friendship. Convince us that true love will not hurt... use... or abuse the one loved.
To this end, keep ever growing in us an ardent love of Your Son and Our Saviour Jesus Christ, by means of constant prayer, and frequent Holy Communion.
May the bright hope of a happy marriage, make us determined to prepare well, by avoiding sin, and the dangers that can so easily lead us into sin.
We thank You for our love, and we desire to consecrate it to You. Keep it always pure, so that we may continue to live as worthy children of Mary our Mother and you our heavenly Father. We ask you this through the Spirit of Jesus, The Holy Spirit of perfect Love. Amen

Proverb of the Day-Happy Heart

A happy heart makes the face cheerful but heartache crushes the spirit

Proverb 15:13

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

Dear Lord,

Help me Lord, I am stressed. I am full with anxiety. I am afraid of tomorrow and tomorrows to come.

But reading your WORD according to your beloved disciple:

Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light."
Matthew 11:28-30

gives me comfort. Please take my yoke. I can not carry my burden without your help.
Without your guidance. I have no strength. Energize me.

I have no peace. Calm me. I feel hopeless. Give me hope. As I kneel in prayers, please bless me.

Proverb of the Day-Friend

A man of many companions may come to ruin but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24

Monday, June 23, 2008

Prayer for Friends

You have created us to live in community,
O God of love; bless our friends who provide us
with the grace and love of an extended family.
Endow them with the riches of your blessings:
good health, sight, and mobility,
that they may enjoy the wonders of your creation
and share their delight with others.
Bless them with keen minds and compassionate hearts
that they may create a better life for all.
Guard them from injustice, oppression, and evil
that they may know freedom and hope lifelong.
In their waking and in their sleeping,
in their laughter and in their tears,
surround them with your love
until the end of their days;
and so bring them to eternal life in peace.
Through Jesus Christ, our Savior.

Heavenly Father Author of Life, Healer of Wounds, Source of Abundant, Unconditional Love and Mercy, please hold (here say the name of a person you're praying for), in the palm of your hand and look at his (specific part/s of the body, i.e.,heart, intestine, liver etc) more closely, examine it, heal it, strenthen the weak parts, reconnect the areas that are loose, mend it and make his (specific damaged area/s) new again. Please direct, guide and bless the hands, minds, eyes, and instruments of the team of professionals, the heart surgeon, the cardiologist, the anaesthesiologists, specialized nurses, medical attendants assigned to do the triple bypass surgery today and every person that touches him/her. Invite them to focus their minds to the tasks at hand and make each one of them perform their assigned tasks O Lord perfectly and precisely attuned to your command as the Great Conductor, Divine Healer and Comforter.O Holy Spirit and Comforter breathe love and peace to sister Esther and their children, that they may continue to feel your warmth and love on this day of the surgery. Assure them that (name of the person pryed for) will be healed fast and soon as he will continue to serve you in the ministry you called him to do for the proclamation of Christ goodness, grace and mercy. Do you worry a lot?

"So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing? Look at the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable than they are. Can all your worry add a single moment to your life? Of course not." So don't worry about having enough food or drink or clothing. Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all your needs and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today!"
Matthew 6:25-34

Proverb of the Day- Passing Joy

Proverbs 14:13
Even in laughter, the heart may ache and the joy may end in grief.

Sunday, June 15, 2008

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

"Dear Joseph, chaste spouse of Mary and heir to the royal line of David, Patron of the Universal Church, I address you today under your title of Terror of Demons. One look from your calm gaze strikes fear into any evil with designs upon my life and my family. In order to imitate you in your protection and provision for Mary and Jesus, I ask you to adopt me, too, as you adopted Jesus. Yes, bring me under your roof and share with me your kingly confidence. See that my heart is good, despite my sins, as your heart is good. In all things, and in every thing, and in everything beyond everything, and as a man before another man, I ask for your friendship and guidance for my intention. Ask the Holy Trinity to grant my miracle, using whatever supernatural and human means are required. Make my virtue and holiness so like yours that when women see me, they see you.Let women feel you, hear you, and pray with you when they feel, hear, and pray with me. Teach me, as you taught Jesus, to learn that I must die to every impurity, every selfish desire, and every act of self-indulgence that harms the women in my life. Let me die, and let Joseph live! Let your powerful Heart of David triumph in my life as husband and father beyond my wildest dreams. Not only do I say Yes with you, I so so with the full confidence of a man who has been baptized into your holy family. Do not delay. Now is the time for action. You, Joseph, surely taught your son to pray the Our Father, so with you, I pray to the Almighty Father: THY will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Amen."

Friday, June 13, 2008

Let us begin by reading this... in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit...

 Sacred Heart of Mary (2)

"O Sweet Lady Saint Mary, you taught us how to be a perfect woman and gave a broken world the miracle of Jesus not by grasping for worldly success, but instead, by offering your unconditional "Yes" to Saint Gabriel and trusting in God's plan, even though you did not foresee the suffering this would bring you at the Crucifixion, or understand how it could be. You did not even know that Joseph was being prepared to be your husband. Your fiat changed the world, right up to this very moment, as I sit at my computer screen, or read this prayer on a printed page. Woman to woman, I ask for yourDivine Spouse, the Holy Spirit, to plant the seed of trust in my heart, despite all my fears of being hurt and exposing myself to the cruelties or ignorance of imperfect men. You completely trusted an imperfect man, a husband born to Original Sin, Saint Joseph, and today I ask you to go to Joseph, and ask him to bring my intention, my miracle, before your Son, and to begin granting it on this perfect day. With you, with trembling heart, I echo throughout time and eternity your perfect fiat: Let it be done unto me according to thy word. Amen

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Lord Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit, go back into my memory as I sleep.
Every hurt that has ever been done to me, heal that hurt. Every hurt that I have ever caused another person, heal that hurt. All the relationships that have been damaged in my whole life that I am not aware of, heal those relationships.

But Lord, if there is anything I need to do, if I need to go to a person because he or she is still suffering from my hand, bring to my awareness that person. I choose to forgive, and I ask to be forgiven.

Remove whatever bitterness may be in my heart, Lord and fill the empty spaces with your love. Amen.

Faithful Shepherd, feed me

Faithful Shepherd, feed me
In the pastures green;
Faithful Shepherd, lead me
Where Thy steps are seen.

Hold me fast and guide me
In the narrow way;
So, with Thee beside me,
I shall never stray.

Daily bring me nearer
To the heavenly shore;
May my faith grow clearer.
May I love Thee more!

Hallow every pleasure,
Every gift and pain;
Be Thyself my Treasure.
Though none else I gain. Amen.
