The Mail that never came

I have a doctor's appointment today. Not my primary doctor but a specialist. So yesterday, I was busy filling in some forms which I hated but I should do myself. Rather than spend extra time in asking me what's my medical history and those of my relatives, my medications and some insurance matters, the doctor's office sent me the long form.

Then I have to call the Post Office. Twice already, I received a feedback that my letters were returned to sender marked Undeliverable. In these times, when I have been communicating with my lawyer, some agencies and friends thru snail mail, it is important that there should be no problem in these exchanges of communications. If it were only messages which could be related thru phones and e-mails, I would not panic but these are hard documents that needed to be received within a time frame.

When I call an office, I always asked for the person in charge of the operations. So I found out that there were two supervisors servicing two zip codes.

After hearing my complaint, the supervisor called the postman who's in charge of the mails in our area. I know he's still there because I called 5 minutes after their opening.

I asked him if there was a time when a temporary mailman delivered the mails for a specified period during the past weeks. He said none. He is the regular guy. I told him what I missed and I heard the stupidest reason why my letter was sent back to the sender. He said that the mailbox was full for that particular day so he did not put the rest of the mails inside.

Then he brought them back to the Office, marked undeliverable and sent back to the sender. We do not receive so many mails and what can fill the mailbox to the brim are these grocers/vendors flyers/catalogues which are actually junk mails. Between a mail that has an official stamp of an agency and a personal letter addressed to a specific person and junk mails that are addressed "To Resident or To Our Neighbor, short to saying to whoever received these mails, he picked the latter materials. Sheesh.

So I asked him pretty please, if he cannot stuff all the mails in our box, leave a note that we have some letters to be picked up from the post office or better try again the next day.

In San Francisco, when I had this kind of problem, it was because, a casual mailman was assigned to take the post of the regular guy. She (yes, she's a she) put my mails to the box of the apartment in the other side of the block which has the same number but with a different
name of the street. How did I know? I got the mails of the people in that apartment.

I called the Main Office and reported the incident. The Main Office asked me if I want it documented that means the report is going to be sent to the Branch. Then the lady transferred to me to the supervisor of the branch. From then on, my mails came intact.

The preparation of some forms to be mailed and the phone calls I made exhausted me in the afternoon that I fell asleep. I dreamed of my grandfather who had been long dead. After I allowed myself carried by the river' s current, I found him seated in front of a house. He was all smiles although he was not waiting for me because he asked for a name of somebody else. I told him I was running away from a guy who had a big stick who clobbered every person that he finds. He asked where he is and I showed him the sack where I put him. Some ladies who saw him clobbered him to death. Wow. I found out that these women were student nurses who were inside a laboratory/ toilet getting some specimens. Weird dream. Ominous?
